It was this thought that brought us to this week’s decision to blog about some of our favorite tools that help us keep on track.
Of those tools, one favorite is Asana. Asana is a productivity tool aimed at group collaboration but is amazing even when flying solo!
When looking back over the years and how I kept myself organized, I remember the endless pages of notes, post-its, and emails…so many emails. Trying to find that email with just one needed detail for a project, was enough to drive someone insane. That is all tackled with this one tool making organization, collaboration, and task management a breeze!
Awesome feature #1: Endless Workspaces
You can have as many workspaces as you want. I have one for RMB Agency that includes all of our team members. We are able to track our tasks and projects while being able to assign items to team members, have ongoing conversations within a project, and we even have an inbox to keep each of us updated with everything that pertains to us in one location. I also have a workspace for the organizations I volunteer for so we can keep everything planned and so we can all know what is going on and stay up to date at all times. It gives each of us a quick preview of where we are heading so we can keep our mind on the ultimate goals and deadlines.
Awesome feature #2: Projects and Tasks / Comments and Praises
The heart and soul of Asana lies in project and task management so it should come as no surprise that this is an awesome feature. Being able to have endless projects for your team and being able to created bulleted tasks within is what this tool is all about and is just part of what put Asana on our list of tools we love. When you create a project, you will undoubtedly have tasks. These tasks can all be assigned to various team members, have due dates, be given tags, and everyone has the ability to track comments and updates. See something that a team member completed? Give them praise with a heart to let them know you love the work they are doing!
Awesome feature #3: Attachments
This is an great feature because not only do you not have to email your team any longer the files they need, you can also attach them directly to the tasks and projects that they relate to making going back later to find the needed file a breeze. You can add from your computer’s hard drive, Dropbox, Box, and even Google Drive. No matter your storage preference, you are covered!
Awesome feature #4: Available anywhere
There are tools that I use that sadly don’t have a desktop version or a mobile version. In order to utilize, you must log in via browser and while this is not enough to keep me away, it does distract from its ability to move to the next level. The added convenience of being available in so many forms really is a huge bonus!
Awesome feature #5: Calendar, Due dates, Reminders
This should be awesome features 4, 5 and 6 but I’ll lump them all together since they sort of all relate. You will find a calendar that allows you to see your month or week or day in an easy to navigate manner as well as the due dates and emailed reminder to keep you on top of your day and on top of everything you have going on. Waking to an email with my list of need to do items helps me start the day on the right food and ready to get those most important items knocked out first.
Awesome feature #6: Integration
The list of integrations available will surely give you plenty of options that will fit your needs. Some of these items include: Dropbox, Slack, MailChimp, Evernote, WordPress, Harvest, Google Calendar, and so many more!
If you have been struggling to keep yourself and your work load straight, if things have been slipping through the cracks, or if you simply want one location to track your many different directions, Asana just might be the tool for you. These are just some of the features I think you will love but trust me when I tell you that there is so much more that this power tool can do for you. Take the time to play around, test out the various features and include others to get the full effect. Before long, I am sure you will agree this is a great tool for your team.
